Product release: Barndoor Automations arrives, plus deeper MCP Governance controls - Barndoor AI | Secure Access and Governance for AI and MCP
Product release: Barndoor Automations arrives, plus deeper MCP Governance controls
September 2026 release
This month’s release is anchored by Barndoor Automations, the agentic automation and workflow platform that joined Barndoor through our recent acquisition of Diaphora. Barndoor Automations is built on the same access-control and audit foundation as the rest of the platform. Remaining features round out MCP Governance, plus two additions to LLM Gateway’s reporting and audit trail.
Let’s dig in!
Barndoor Automations brings governed agentic workflows to enterprises
Barndoor Automations, formerly Diaphora, which we acquired this month, is an automation and workflow-building platform for AI agents. Powered by the open source Frags runtime engine and model-agnostic, the integrated solution now runs on Barndoor’s governance and audit layer.
Barndoor Automations connects as an MCP server. Any customer can add it through a standard OAuth connection. Every custom automation (a “blueprint”) a team builds becomes its own governable tool. An automation or Blueprint author can register a model for their automation and route it through the Barndoor LLM Gateway using their own key.
“Reliability is what turns an AI project into something we can put in front of the whole team. With Barndoor, if we know a workflow will follow the same defined process every time and can see exactly what touched it, we can deploy it far more broadly than anything we run today,” said Nimrod Vered, CTO of Syndio.

MCP Governance updates
- The access control center now lets an admin write the message an agent or user sees when a policy denies a tool call, pointing them to a help channel or telling them who to ask for access.
- Field level data controls now support wildcard and custom name-pattern matching. For example, entering external* blocks every Slack channel whose name starts with “external,” and vendor blocks any channel with “vendor” anywhere in its name. In Google Drive, Confidential* blocks files with any label beginning with “Confidential,” such as “Confidential – Finance” or “Confidential – HR.” One rule now covers a whole group of channels or files.
- MCP server for your governance data enables admins to query AI something like “which of my MCP servers have no policy on them?” and it answers directly, in plain language, pulling from your live governance data instead of making you piece it together across screens. Need a new policy? Describe the access you want and it drafts a policy for you to review. Try it out!
LLM Gateway updates
- It’s now easier to audit and reconcile against actual spend. Every change to a Gateway resource (provider, credential, or route) now carries a required, free-text reason from whoever made the change, alongside who changed it and when.
- The LLM usage dashboard now breaks cost down day by day, so admins can reconcile Barndoor’s recorded spend against a provider’s invoice instead of working from a single total.
Dark mode for everyone
Barndoor AI Gateway now offers a dark mode display option, available for all users.
New MCP connectors this month
Barndoor rolled out governance support for the following new MCP servers this month, so admins can bring the same policy and audit coverage to these tools as teams connect them.
- Amperity: a customer data platform that unifies customer data across sources for marketing and analytics.
- Calendly: scheduling software for booking meetings and appointments.
- Postman: an API platform for building, testing, and documenting APIs.
- PayPal: payments platform for sending, receiving, and processing money transfers.
- Smartsheet: work management and collaboration platform
